The Clearing of Invasive Plants in the pastures (veld) - Cluny Farm project is in Gauteng. Reports are now available.

Description

Cluny is a residential working farm for 60 intellectually disabled adults. The farm comprises a dairy, vegetable tunnels and two mini bakeries baking fresh breads and cookies. The Residents live in 5 homes on the farm and fulfil their rightful place in society doing work and live a dignified meaningful life in a safe, loving and secure environment. The farm also has a natural wetland with abundant birdlife. It is based in Sun Valley, near Kyalami.

Overview

The pastures have a number of alien plants that need to be cleared.

Beneficiaries

The farming operations in that we are environmentally conscious and due to manpower shortage the Residents cannot spend all day clearing the plants as the other jobs, feeding the calves, milking the cows, working in the gardens and bakeries take first priority.

Impact

This will assist us in getting rid of the plants that have a negative impact on the Farm and the Wetlands.
