Description
The Clarke Estate Community Project has been chosen as the beneficiary for this year. Clarke Estate is a disadvantaged community in Elsies River where poverty is rife. Media24 has taken on the challenge to seek remedies to aid this community, and plans to help out through literacy campaigns, training and general social development.
Overview
On the 18th, Media24 plans to do the following:
- Paint three classrooms at the Clarke Estate Primary School
- Clean up the grounds/surroundings of the school
- Donate plates, cutlery and cups for the feeding scheme operating in the school
- Paint the ABET centre at the Clarke Estate community centre
- Fit curtains and paint the schools hall
- Plant flowers along the fence of the school and
- Load up a sand pit at the Vrolike Groepe Playschool (creche) and provide balls for the toddlers.
- In Johannesburg our own mountaineer, Tian Liebenberg from Finweek will climb Mt Kilimanjaro on the 29th of August in the spirit of Do It Day to raise funds for LOVE Trust. The LOVE Trust will be opening an Early Childhood Development centre in Tembisa early in 2010. The purpose of this centre would be to care for children either infected or affected by
Beneficiaries
The young learners from the school together with staff will benefit from this project.
Impact
This project will provide a stimulating environment so as to improve the quality of life for these young children.
