The Saturday Morning Tutoring Session - Ikamva Youth project is in Western Cape.
Description

Our mission is to broaden the post-school opportunities for previously disadvantaged youth, which we achieve through three core programmes: supplementary tutoring, career guidance and life skills training, and e-literacy development.

Overview

We need volunteers to tutor high school subjects most subjects in the FET band, although maths / maths literacy, physical and life sciences, commercial subjects and English are usually the most popular). Learners bring problems they’re working on, and tutors sit with small groups of learners and work through the problems with them. The tutoring session lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours.

Beneficiaries

Learners in grades 10, 11 and 12 from Khayelitsha and Nyanga.

Impact

Having many tutors will ensure that learners get individual attention during the tutoring session, furthering our aim of improving the marks of all our learners. Hopefully some of the volunteers who tutor on Do It Day will be inspired to return, thus strengthening our pool of tutors.
