The The Ark Youth Boys Gardening Project project is in Western Cape. Reports are now available.
Description

Currently the Ark City of Refuge houses, feeds and restores about 780 women, children and men who were formerly abused, abandoned, addicted, homeless and unemployed. Our main purpose is to restore, equip, educate and empower them to take up their rightful place in society once again. 200 are children of all ages and this gardening project will assist towards our daily cause of providing almost 2,400 meals.

Overview

We have four open spaces in the court yard of our Boys Home where we hope to establish four separate food/gardens to plant much-needed vegetables for our pots. We have four dormitories in the home and each dorm will take the responsibility of maintaining their own garden as well as instilling a friendly competition amongst themselves. The project will involve all the boys and will assist them in "helping themselves" as well as giving them a sense of self-achievement and add great value and purpose in to their young lives. Many of them arrived at the Ark with a single mommies, some are there abandoned, abused or victims of violence .
