Description
We have 2 million special needs people in South Africa. Horse riding at SARDA is an extreme, safe, free sport for recreation and sport development with great therapeutic benefits. We provide access to 40 hours horse riding tuition per annum, weather permitting. Over 70% of our 200 horse riders per week, are from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, many have no form of therapy available at their schools or area, ie: Alpha – Woodstock, Astra – Charlesville, Montana, Bel Porto – Lansdowne, Blouvlei – Retreat, Dominican – Wynberg, Eros – Athlone, Filia - Bellville,Glendale – Heathfield, Molenbeek – Pinelands, Tembaletu – Gugulethu, Oasis – Belhar, Vera – Rondebosch East and Vista Nova – Rondebosch.

- Design and desktop publishing of 2 SARDA exhibitions for 2010 for monthly fundraising and special calendar events,
- SARDA documentary for awareness and promotion to potential donors and updates for existing donors.
Beneficiaries
Over 200 riders with special needs per week from schools and communities from the Western Cape as outlined in the SARDA overview.
Impact
The outdoor activities listed would attract more volunteers to be part of the SARDA Cape Town branch in a volunteering capacity, getting involved with the riders in the lessons. The indoor activities listed would also educate and raise awareness in the commercial and business world and attract sponsors and donors in their professional or private capacity to become part of the SARDA family.
