Description
SHAWCO is an NGO situated in Cape Town, and the organization owns a wetland of 1.2 ha. (adjacent to one of their centres in Khayelitsha) which we are going to turn into a common green- area for the community members.
Overview
In order to realize this project we need help to clean the area, paint the fence, make benches, plant trees, prepare a vegetable garden, make a playground and put up information and education signs.
Beneficiaries
The community members will get access to a beautiful wetland including a braai-area, playground and sports area, environmental education for school children, recycling stations, relaxation area etc. The wetlands will offer a public service which is sorely needed in Khayelitsha.
Impact
SHAWCO hopes that this area will create joy and community spirit in Khayelitsha.
